Abstract
The clinical features of abdominal actinomycosis are nonspecific and commonly confused with a neoplasm. Although any condition that allows the agents of actinomycosis to breach the gastrointestinal mucosa has the potential to be complicated by this infection, actinomycosis rarely develops as a complication of Crohn¡¯s disease. Because actinomycosis has indolent clinical course and manifestations similar to inflammatory bowel disease, it should be suspected that other chronic inflammatory process such as Crohn¡¯s disease could be associated when active abdominal actinomycosis is recurrent despite appropriate anti-microbial treatment. Herein, we report a case of Crohn¡¯s disease associated with abdominal actinomycosis.(Korean J Med 70:695-700, 2006)
